About the Role
2nd Welling st Johns Scouts manages an outdoor learning space which is part of the woodland within the foot print of St Johns church to look after. In the learning space we have started a wildlife garden, Seating area, Wood store, and fire pit. We aim to build new areas in the learning space including a Tomahawk range, Wood Carving area, and BBQ space for volunteer socials.
Joining the team you will be supported by other volunteers and be able to choose when works best for you to volunteer.
What could might you do whilst volunteering?
- Water garden
- Clear fallen wood
- Take part in a building project (shelters, benches, planters)
- Help Design the next part of the project
- Take part in social meet ups
We are arranging volunteer days where a group of us will come down to work on the woodlands, however we're also open to anyone who would like to come up on their own to potter away planting and watering. Our focus is on supporting young people but we also see working on this area as a great opportunity for adults. When working in this area you are serenaded by all manner of birds, and it's just a lovely serene place to be.

About us
2nd Welling has been running engaging evenings for young people in the Bexley area since 1927 our group takes pride in helping young people to do what they do best and be kids. We now meet at St Johns Church in Welling where we are blessed with our own section of Woodland, during our weekly meetings we teach the young people about our natural world, give them skill for life such as first aid, team building, and work to boost their self confidence.
