Support Our Explorer Scouts Kandersteg Adventure and Help Them Explore the World
Our Explorer Scouts have an exciting goal: to travel to Kandersteg in Switzerland and take part in an international Scouting experience that reaches far beyond a normal camp. This is a chance for them to meet young people from other cultures, build confidence, gain independence, and understand that they are part of a much bigger global community.
Now we need help to make it happen.
We are raising funds so this Kandersteg trip is affordable for all of our families. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps bring the adventure closer.

Why Kandersteg is such a special place for Explorer Scouts
Kandersteg is more than a beautiful village in the Swiss Alps. For Scouts, it has a special place in the international movement. Young people from many countries travel there to camp, explore, volunteer, and learn together.
That makes it the perfect setting for an Explorer Scouts Kandersteg adventure. Our Explorers will not just be visiting another country. They will be stepping into an international Scouting environment where different languages, cultures, and traditions come together through shared activities.
For young people, that matters.
It is easy to learn about the world through maps, books, lessons, and screens. Those things have value. But meeting people face to face is different. Sitting around a campfire with Scouts from another country is different. Cooking, walking, problem-solving, laughing, and swapping stories together is different.
These moments help young people understand the world in a real and personal way.
They may discover that other Scouts sing different songs, eat different food, wear different uniforms, and speak different languages. They may also discover that they share the same sense of adventure, the same nerves before a challenge, and the same pride when they achieve something difficult.
That is powerful learning.
Kandersteg offers the sort of setting where our Explorer Scouts can:
Experience international Scouting in a hands-on way
Learn about other cultures through real friendships and shared activities
Build confidence by travelling and camping away from home
Develop teamwork, resilience, and independence
See themselves as part of a worldwide movement
The mountains are a big part of the draw, of course. The scenery is unforgettable. But the real value of this trip will be seen in the way our young people come home: more confident, more curious, and more aware of their place in the international community.
This trip will broaden horizons in the best possible way
Travel gives young people a wider lens. It teaches lessons that are hard to fit into a weekly meeting.
For many Explorer Scouts, a trip like this may be one of their first chances to travel abroad with a youth group. That brings a brilliant mix of excitement and responsibility. They will need to plan, pack, manage kit, look after one another, and take part in group decisions.
Those everyday tasks are part of the adventure.
A misplaced glove, a shared snack, an early start, a steep path, a new phrase in another language, these small moments all build independence. They help young people realise they can handle more than they thought.
A trip to Kandersteg can also open their eyes to the wider Scouting family. Scouting is local, with weekly meetings and familiar faces. It is also global, with millions of young people taking part across the world. Seeing both sides of that at once can be incredible.
Our Explorers will be able to carry their local Scouting spirit into an international space. They will represent their group, their community, and their country, while learning from others at the same time.
That exchange is one of the best parts of Scouting.
A donation to this trip is not just helping to cover travel and camp costs. It is helping young people gain confidence, independence, and a stronger understanding of the world around them.
The skills they practise on this trip will not stay in Switzerland. They will come back with them.
They will use them at school, at college, at work, in future volunteering, and in the way they approach new people and new situations. That is why youth travel and international Scouting experiences are so valuable.

We want every family to feel this adventure is possible
The heart of this fundraiser is simple: we want the trip to be affordable for all of our families.
International trips can be expensive. Travel, accommodation, food, activities, equipment, insurance, and all the practical extras add up quickly. Even with careful planning, the cost can put pressure on families.
We do not want money to be the reason an Explorer Scout misses out.
That is why fundraising matters so much. It helps spread the cost. It gives the whole community a way to support young people. It turns a big goal into something we can work towards together.
This is not just about paying for a trip. It is about fairness.
When a group of young people share an experience like Kandersteg, the benefits grow because they do it together. They return with shared stories, stronger friendships, and new confidence as a unit. The more accessible the trip is, the stronger that shared experience becomes.
Fundraising also teaches valuable lessons before the journey even begins.
Our Explorer Scouts learn that big adventures take effort. They see that planning, teamwork, and community support can make something ambitious possible. They learn to explain what they are doing and why it matters. They learn gratitude when people back them.
Those are life skills too.
Every contribution helps lower barriers and bring this opportunity within reach. A small donation can help with shared costs. A larger donation can make a major difference to the overall target. Sharing the fundraising page can introduce the campaign to someone who would love to support a youth adventure.
All of it counts.
If you have ever seen a young person return from camp standing a little taller, speaking with more confidence, or proudly sharing what they achieved, you will know why this matters.
What your support helps create
When people give to a Scout trip, they might picture tents, train tickets, and mountain activities. Those things are part of it. But the real impact is bigger.
Your support helps create moments like these:
A young person starting a conversation with someone from another country
A nervous Explorer discovering they can complete a challenging walk
A patrol cooking together after a long day outside
A Scout learning a new custom, phrase, or tradition from an international friend
A group returning home with stories that inspire younger Scouts
These are the moments that shape character.
Explorer Scouts are at a key age. They are growing into young adults and working out who they are, what they value, and what they can contribute. Positive experiences at this stage can make a lasting difference.
A Kandersteg trip gives them space to practise responsibility in a safe, supportive setting. They will follow routines, help with practical tasks, respect other cultures, and take part in activities that need patience and teamwork.
They will also have fun. Lots of it.
That matters too. Joy is a huge part of Scouting. The best adventures are full of muddy boots, shared jokes, tired legs, big views, and stories that get told again and again.
The fun is what draws young people in. The growth is what stays with them.

Your donation can help turn preparation into experience. It can help take this trip from a plan on paper to a real journey filled with learning, friendship, and achievement.
That is a wonderful thing to be part of.
How the community can help make it happen
The best Scout adventures are never built by one person alone. They happen because young people, leaders, families, friends, and the wider community come together.
There are several simple ways to support this Kandersteg fundraising effort.
Make a donation
Any amount helps. A few pounds from many people can quickly build momentum and make the target feel possible.
Share the fundraising page
Sharing the link with friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, and local groups can make a huge difference. Someone outside the immediate Scout community may be looking for a positive local cause to support.
Talk about the trip
Word of mouth is powerful. If you know someone who values youth work, travel, outdoor learning, or Scouting, tell them what our Explorers are working towards.
Encourage the young people
Fundraising can be hard work. A kind message, a show of support, or a simple “well done” helps our Explorers stay motivated.
Celebrate the goal
This is a big adventure, and every step towards it deserves cheering on. The more energy we build around the campaign, the more exciting it becomes for everyone involved.
We are raising funds through JustGiving to help make the Switzerland trip affordable for all of our families. If you can support the campaign, please visit our fundraising page and give what you can:
Your support sends a clear message to our young people: their growth, confidence, and curiosity matter.

Help turn this adventure into a lifelong memory
The Kandersteg trip will give our Explorer Scouts far more than a stamp in a passport. It will give them a chance to grow, to connect, and to see the world with fresh eyes.
They will learn about other cultures by meeting people. They will broaden their horizons by stepping beyond the familiar. They will understand their international community by becoming part of it, not just reading about it.
That is the magic of Scouting at its best.
With community support, we can make this opportunity open to every family and every Explorer who is ready for the adventure. Every donation brings the group one step closer to Switzerland, one step closer to Kandersteg, and one step closer to an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Please donate if you can, share the campaign if you are able, and help our Explorer Scouts explore the world.
